Adam Forshaw with Leeds United squad at Elland Road for clash v Crystal Palace

Adam Forshaw is at Elland Road for the Leeds United clash against Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon, according to BBC Radio Leeds journalist Adam Pope.

Forshaw, 31, has been out of action since a 45-minute-long appearance against Newcastle on New Year’s Eve when Leeds drew 0-0 at St James’ Park.

It looks as though he’s fit enough to make Javi Gracia’s squad on 9 April, however, with Pope reporting on Twitter that he’s present and with his teammates.

Big news

Forshaw’s return to the squad is an unexpected one.

However, playing him wouldn’t help Leeds at all, really.

He may be good as a squad depth option if we really need him but ultimately, he’s one of the many Championship-level players in this squad who should have been shifted on a long while back.

Sure, he did well for a few months last season but the fact he’s had so many injury issues means that he should probably be released in the summer when his contract expires.

Leeds United

Leeds have plenty of other central midfielders who’d be ahead of him in the pecking order while defenders like Pascal Struijk and Robin Koch can also come into the middle of the field if needed.

It’s best to focus on players who’ll still be at Leeds from next season onwards than handing game-time to Forshaw unless, of course, we absolutely have to.

There’s no guarantee he’ll be in the squad anyway against Palace. He could just be there to train with the team ahead of an injury comeback.

In other Leeds United news, the decision has been made for the club to splash the cash this summer.
