‘Abysmal’, ‘Joke’, ‘Disgrace’ – Many Leeds fans furious with one aspect of confirmed squad v QPR

Leeds United fans on Twitter are furious with the bench that Marcelo Bielsa has selected for the clash against QPR on Saturday.

Although there is great news in that Pablo Hernandez has returned to the starting line-up, there are still other players who are missing out with injuries such as Barry Douglas, Tyler Roberts and Adam Forshaw.

The lack of a second striker is also concerning with Bielsa forced into naming a bench of Illan Meslier, Oliver Casey, Ezgjan Alioski, Pascal Struijk, Alfie McCalmont, Jamie Shackleton and Jordan Stevens.

Except for goalkeeper Meslier and Alioski, Leeds’ bench is basically a select bunch of Under-23s players who have very limited first-team experience.

It is not as if Bielsa has chosen that bench because he wanted to. It’s a decision that he’s been forced into due to Eddie Nketiah and Jack Clarke being recalled from their loans and the fact no one has been brought in to replace them.

Injuries are – and always have been under Bielsa – a problem too.

Leeds fans are not happy with the bench on Twitter and have been very vocal about the poor options that Bielsa has to choose from.

We can expect to see Alioski and maybe Shackleton appear at some stage, with Alioski perhaps the only one who can make any real difference.

Let’s hope the game is wrapped up before any substitutions are needed.
