‘Absolute joke’, ‘Crazy’ – These Leeds fans react to ‘ludicrous’ EFL Championship update

Leeds United fans are well used to having their fixtures messed about with by the EFL and Sky Sports.

However, to date, games have still been scheduled at a time when fans can watch them.

Middlesbrough and Millwall fans haven’t been so lucky.

Middlesbrough posted a tweet on Tuesday morning that revealed their July 8 match is now set to be played at 3pm. On a Wednesday afternoon. That’s when a big bulk of fans are still going to be at work. Or at school. Or picking their children up from school.

It’s a really shocking decision and we feel for fans of both teams who still have everything to play for.

Millwall are just two points off the play-offs, Middlesbrough are two points off the drop zone.

There are now going to be fans who miss the game, after being told that the EFL was going out of their way to ensure fans could watch all the remaining matches.

It’s a long trip for Middlesbrough but a 5pm or 6pm kick-off would have made much more sense.

And the EFL hasn’t gone out of its way to help Leeds, with a long trip to Cardiff on Sunday with a midday kick-off. Contrast that with the midlands derby between West Brom and Birmingham at 3pm on Saturday. That’s a real head-scratcher.

So far, there are no Leeds games that have been subject to such ridiculous scheduling.

And we’ve got a warning for the EFL – try this with Leeds and there will be trouble from the fans.
