Aaronson blows Sky Sports pundit away in ‘exquisite’ Leeds United moment v Derby
Lee Hendrie was blown away by Brenden Aaronson’s finish to an “exquisite” passage of play as Leeds United beat Derby County on Sunday.
Daniel Farke’s side looked like they could be set to rue missed chances on 29 December, with just 10 minutes separating the Whites from a draw at Pride Park.
The American attacker had other ideas, however, as he fired a late winner past Jacob Zetterstrom to seal three more points away from Elland Road.
Speaking live via Sky Sports Football [29 December, 7:23pm], Hendrie said: “Oh, my word. That is truly remarkable. This is Leeds at their best. I don’t mean just the number of passes in a sequence, it’s the movement as well – brilliant, really, really brilliant.
“Passing – perfect. Touch – perfect. Finish – exquisite. This is a goal that you will have to watch over and over again because, it looks simple, but it’s brilliant.
“We must be talking 40 or 50 passes before that is tucked away. That is first class. Unbelievable.”
Brenden Aaronson finishes off classy goal in Derby County v Leeds United
It looked like a passage of play that Manchester City would put together under Pep Guardiola, though even they might struggle to score such a finely-worked goal right now.
Leeds are well on their way to securing promotion back to the Premier League, a feat which has been almost promised under Farke, but there is still quite a way to go.
Fellow promotion hopefuls Sheffield United slipped up once again, drawing 1-1 with managerless West Brom at Bramall Lane, seeing a two-point gap open up at the top of the Championship.
The season is far from over but, as long as the Whites can claim important three points like they did at Pride Park, they have every chance to finish atop the table come the end of the campaign.
With recent slip-ups to Blackburn Rovers and Preston North End, there is always a chance of Leeds making the task much more difficult for themselves. But at the moment, it seems like smooth sailing.
In other Leeds United news, someone must speak out now as the Whites were involved in yet another teamsheet blunder.
