Graeme Souness has singled out Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips as key to their system under Marcelo Bielsa.
The Sky Sports pundit claimed that there isn’t much to dislike about the Yorkshire Pirlo, who has impressed in the Premier League.
Phillips was named in the starting XI against Everton once again, with Marcelo Bielsa naming an unchanged side for the first time this season.
Souness claimed that Phillips’ attitude is superb and that if Everton aren’t at their best, the 24-year-old and Leeds will out-run and work them.
“A lot to like about him,” he said during live coverage of the game.
“He’s 24-year’s old, really good attitude, I like him.
“I don’t think it matters to Leeds whether they’re away from home, they play one way. First and foremost they try to work hard – it’s very hard if you’re not prepared to match that.”
Bielsa has transformed Phillips since his arrival.
The midfielder was never a defensive player and preferred to get forward for the Whites, but this change has taken his career to another level.
From a standard Championship player to an England international – Phillips has it all and is rightly getting praised from far and wide.
