Beren Cross has claimed that Leeds United defender Liam Cooper has looked out of his depth in the recent defeats against Leicester and Crystal Palace.
The Leeds Live journalist admitted that injuries have not helped his consistency, but that Wilfried Zaha and Jamie Vardy could have exposed him.
Cooper played a part in two of the Foxes goals last week and was booked when failing to deal with pieces of skill from Zaha.
Writing in his Leeds Live player ratings for this season, Cross claimed that Cooper should improve with every start he makes.
“Injuries have not helped the captain with his consistency,” he wrote.
“Looked a little out of his depth last week in the two thumpings against the likes of Jamie Vardy and Wilfried Zaha. Will surely improve with regular starts.”
It is hard to argue with this claim, as the proof is there to see with his previous two outings in the Premier League.
Stand and be counted
In times like this where the Whites are struggling for the first time, Cooper is one of those who has to stand up and fight for his side.
The 29-year-old has made 203 appearances for Leeds and knows what it means to be finally back in the Premier League – something we can’t waste.

With Diego Llorente coming back to full fitness once again, the never-before-seen summer signing will be pushing for a starting spot.
Another poor outing from Cooper against Arsenal or injury with Scotland during the next two weeks could see his spot lost.
