We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…
Paul Robinson has said that two more wins will be enough for Leeds to secure promotion back to the Premier League.
He thinks that Leeds will clinch promotion under the lights at Elland Road a week today if they beat Swansea on Sunday and then Barnsley next Thursday.
Marcelo Bielsa’s men put in a five-star performance on Thursday evening, smashing Stoke City at Elland Road and keeping a six-point buffer between themselves and Brentford.
The 5-0 win also means the Leeds goal difference is now superior to West Brom’s.
Talking exclusively to MOT Leeds News Robinson said, “Brentford are flying since the Championship restarted. But they need to win all their games. They’ve won five since the restart and the law of averages says to win the next four is highly unlikely.
“I’ve got absolute 100% faith that Leeds will be in the Premier League after that performance.
“I think two more wins will do it.
“If they take care of the Swansea game I think they’re pretty much home and hosed. The home game at Barnsley could be the one where we clinch it.”
Four games left and a six-point gap. Even the most cautious of Leeds fans will be celebrating tonight in the knowledge that the job is more than half done now.
It’s not just the league table, though. That performance against Stoke was a performance of champions.
Never mind Brentford, it’s very feasible that Leeds could go on and win all their remaining games now.
