Motherwell defender Sam Campbell is set to train with Leeds United in the next week, according to Scott McDermott.

The Sunday Mail journalist has reported on his personal Twitter account that the 16-year-old will also train with Liverpool as he sums up his next move.

It is suggested that Southampton and Brighton are also keen, although there were no claims he would also train with them.

It appeared initially that Liverpool had won the race for Campbell, after offering him a trial in Merseyside, although Leeds may now have done the same.

Nick Mashiter first reported that Leeds, along with Liverpool and Brighton had all had offers accepted for the 16-year-old.

That was more than two weeks ago, with the defender clearly not having made up his mind on where he would like to move.

Motherwell were also keen on keeping their defensive talent, offering him a new three-year deal according to FourFourTwo.

Campbell will be arriving into an environment at Thorp Arch that has changed dramatically since the tenure of Marcelo Bielsa began.

Every single player will be able to tell the 16-year-old how much they have developed in the previous two years, something which could change his mind.

There is also a clear pathway into the first-team if you impress - something which tempted both Sam Greenwood and Joe Gelhardt to move earlier in the summer.

Stuart McKinstry has arrived from Motherwell in recent times, and that could give the Whites an advantage in these negotiations.
