Wilfried Zaha claims Patrick Bamford was worst player he's trained with

Wilfried Zaha has said that Patrick Bamford is the worst player that he's ever trained with, but admitted the Leeds United striker is "amazing" on the pitch.

Zaha was missing when Palace lost 2-0 to Leeds on Monday, with Bamford getting the second goal of the game.

Bamford spent the first-half of the 15/16 season on loan at Palace but it didn't work out for him there.

And when asked who the worst player he has trained with, Zaha – on a reported £130k-a-week at Palace – said it was the Leeds' number nine. [On the Judy podcast, 1:07:20]

"Patrick Bamford,” said Zaha. “But he’s amazing on the pitch. There are some people like that though, like Glenn Murray.

"Patrick, he would just smash things, left, right [in training], but then on the pitch, he just bags."

Bamford far from the dark days of Palace

We would imagine that this has changed now.

Bielsa demands a lot on the training ground as well as on the pitch and he has stuck by Bamford through thick and thin.

Here's a great example – Bielsa running the length of the pitch after Bamford bagged an absolute beauty at Thorp Arch.

Bielsa's faith and his regime are paying off now massively, with Bamford taking the Premier League by storm, with 12 goals in just 21 games.

That's just one less than the likes of Harry Kane, Bruno Fernandes, Son and Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

It seems that Bamford has been on the lookout for Bielsa all his career and the time at Palace in the 15/16 season, when he was contracted to Chelsea, was among the lowest he's faced.

He only made nine appearances for Palace and didn't bag on the pitch once.

It seems his heart wasn't in it in training, either.

It's been some turnaround for the 27-year-old, who is now being talked about as a possible member of Gareth Southgate's England squad for the Euros.
