Why Welsh media felt sorry for Ethan Ampadu as Leeds United man starts vs Norway
Ethan Ampadu is once again at the heart of everything for Wales.
The Leeds United captain started his third game of the extended international break, with Norway the opponents in Cardiff.
Wales were looking to get their first positive result of the Nations League, and it didn't start great.
Oscar Bobb of Fulham made it 1-0 after 10 minutes, and that sparked the home side into life immediately.
Wales bounced back, and it was another Leeds star in Dan James who scored their equaliser before the break.
Ampadu wasn't helped by those around him in red, and he was picked out as someone who needs more help.
Why wasn't Ethan Ampadu helped?
Starting at the base of midfield, he was going up against the likes of Martin Odegaard.
Jordan James and Liam Cullen made up the midfield three, with the latter playing in League One with Leicester.
You could tell, as the game passed him by.
Former Wales international, Nathan Blake, was one of those in the media who felt sorry for the Elland Road star.
Speaking live on BBC Radio Wales on 1 October, he said: "We haven't seen enough of Jordan James and Liam Cullen.
"I feel for Ethan Ampadu because it's his third game in a row, but the other two have to get on it."
Does Ethan Ampadu need rest?
The Leeds captain would never admit it, but with another game to come, a rest would be welcomed.
Ampadu chipped away in midfield and made some crucial interceptions around Erling Haaland in that opening 45 minutes.
But, he did look outnumbered with those around him.
Leeds travel to Arsenal when they return to Premier League action next week at the Emirates.
Ampadu will take on Odegaard again, and based on this evidence, he will need help from the likes of Ao Tanaka and Anton Stach around him.
Daniel Farke will be hoping that Craig Bellamy takes note with another game to come in midweek, and gives Ampadu a slight rest.
With two defeats before this in the Nations League, though, Wales and Ampadu will be going all out for their first win.
