Why Daniel Farke has to open clear pathway for 'impressive' academy star at Leeds United
Leeds United could have the next big thing waiting in the wings.
The Whites have started the season almost perfectly going into the rest of the Premier League campaign.
After a great-looking summer window, there were expectations of a potential European qualification push.
It will certainly be interesting to see if those dreams continue as the season moves deeper.
Even with the present day looking bright, there will always be questions over the future at Elland Road.
It appears that Daniel Farke could have some calls to make in the coming months and years over one academy star in particular.
Who is Leeds United talent Kai Morrall?
There are always keen eyes keeping tabs on the progress of youth talents at Thorp Arch.
Supporters in LS11 want to see young talents make their way through and become first-team assets.
It now seems that there is a talent catching the eye above the rest.
That is the opinion of The Guardian and the latest edition of their Next Generation feature.
They have named the 20 best talents at each Premier League club, with Kai Morrall named as the Leeds addition.
The newspaper's online edition wrote, "After eight years in Liverpool’s academy, Morrall joined the Leeds youth setup last December. He was highly regarded at Anfield – and frequently scouted by Premier League rivals – but believes the move to Elland Road can facilitate a faster pathway to first-team football.
"The Ireland Under-16 international – who is also eligible to play for Jamaica - is a highly versatile player blessed with impressive vision, balance, pace and creativity.
"Although right wing is the technically assured Morrall’s favourite position he has also thrived at full-back, wide on the left and as a No 10. He made his debut for Leeds Under-18s in May and in September was named in Ireland’s Under-17 squad."
There is clearly so much positivity and excitement surrounding Morrall, but what needs to be done to get the most out of him.
Why Daniel Farke must make decisions to keep Morrall happy
There is a lot of power nowadays in youth players as they look to force moves to big club early in their career.
Morrall looks to be an older head on young shoulders based on the above.
The idea of a 2010-born talent swapping the bright lights of Liverpool for Leeds, sums up his mindset.
The winger is more focused on getting minutes, rather than simply playing for a bigger club.
Farke now has decisions to make with the hope of opening up a pathway to first-team football.
Should that not be done, there will be questions as to why Morrall even made the career change.
He needs to be kept happy as he could prove to be the future of Leeds' attack.
Archie Gray is proof of how this sort of approach can work for everyone, so replicating that could be wise.
