Leeds United's Nico Elvedi was involved again for Switzerland in their 3-0 win over North Macedonia on Tuesday.

The centre-back was called up to the Swiss national team ahead of the break and has been a consistent starter for his country.

The defender has played 90 minutes in each of Switzerland's four Nations League games, helping them to a 100 per cent start in the competition.

The Swiss now sit top of Group 1 with 12 points, with Elvedi set to return to Thorp Arch ahead of Leeds' returning game against Arsenal on Saturday.

Daniel Farke will not only be keen for his players out on international duty to return in good form, but also in good health.

Elvedi appears to be coming back to LS11 in good form and fitness, which will delight Farke.

What Swiss media are saying about Nico Elvedi's performance

Elvedi has picked up rave reviews over the international break, particularly for his performance in the 3-0 win over Scotland, where he got himself on the scoresheet.

The 30-year-old kept another clean sheet against North Macedonia, but also had another chance to score in the game.

He won all four of his ground duels, while also boasting an impressive 100 per cent aerial duel win rate.

Blick handed him a 5/6 rating, writing: "He won most of his duels and imposed his physical strength.

"He has gotten used to being the best Swiss centre-back since the beginning of the year, and he has maintained that level, but Manuel Akanji was his equal this Tuesday."

Hommedumatch handed the Leeds man a 6.5/10 rating and wrote: "A serious match without any particular difficulty. He controlled the opposing attackers well and contributed to the good Swiss defensive solidity."

Watson graded Elvedi 4.5/6, explaining why he was fortunate in the match: "In the 20th minute, he loses sight of his opponent and is lucky that the header flies over the goal.

"Later, he repeatedly appears at the front, but fails to beat the goalkeeper after a Johan Manzambi pass."

Elvedi had one opportunity to score in the game, which racked up 0.10 in xG, going down as a big chance missed.

Either way, for him to be classed as one of, if not the best Switzerland centre-back, Leeds will surely be happy.

Who won Daniel Farke's favour as Nico Elvedi and Jaka Bijol battle for Leeds United role

Has Elvedi helped his chances at Leeds after international break?

Elvedi has already played four times in the Premier League for the Whites since signing, with Joe Rodon currently out injured.

He has been battling with Jaka Bijol for a starting spot under Farke, with his Leeds comrade also currently out on international duty.

The centre-back has performed well for Slovenia, keeping two clean sheets and only losing one time in four games.

However, that one loss came to Elvedi's Switzerland.

Bijol currently looks likely to remain on the bench, at least while Elvedi is in great form.
