What has Gabby Agbonlahor said about Leeds United star James Trafford after England loss vs Spain?

Gabby Agbonlahor hasn't held back in his review of Leeds United ace James Trafford latest performance for England.

The 23-year-old was thrown in at the deep end by Thomas Tuchel as he started against Spain on Saturday.

A Nations League opener against the World Cup champions was always going to be tough and it certainly turned out that way.

The level was summed up when Lamine Yamal opened the scoring after two minutes, off the back of a Marc Guehi error.

There wasn't much the keeper could do as he was ultimately let down by those in front of him.

That hasn't stopped Agbonlahor from taking aim at Trafford as he discussed his future with England.

The 2002-born shot-stopper has certainly made a great impression since coming in at Elland Road.

His performances have been impressive and helped Daniel Farke to look towards the top end of the Premier League.

That looks to have caught the eye of Tuchel as he gave him a long-awaited chance at Wembley.

In only his third England cap, Trafford conceded three, but it wasn't that which Agbonlahor took issue with.

Surprisingly, it was actually his ability with the ball at his feet that the ex-Aston Villa man didn't like.

Speaking live via talkSPORT on Monday, he said: "James Trafford is a decent keeper. Playing out from the back, he looked very shaky against Spain. He gave away a few balls and didn't look comfortable as he does.

"That number one spot is Jordan Pickford's with comfort."

Things may not bode well for the Leeds man with these sorts of reviews, but how did he actually perform?

It can't be forgotten that the keeper conceded three, but it was against the champions of the world.

That doesn't truly show how he perfromed in between the sticks.

Trafford still made a save against Ferran Torres in the first half as the Paris Saint-Germain star was kept off the scoresheet.

The 23-year-old also acted as sweeper once while also completing two recoveries and one clearance.

Agbonlahor suggested his distribution wasn't good enough, but he did still maintain an 88 per cent pass rate.

The Leeds man even completed six long balls as he looked to get things moving up the pitch.

It may not have been the performance Trafford will have dreamed of, but it wasn't necessarily as poor as is being made out on talkSPORT.
