Leeds United crushed November, hard.

That's when they started their current run of seven wins that's sent them to the top of the Championship.

Unsurprisingly, Marcelo Bielsa has been nominated for manager of the month, while Jack Harrison is up for the player award.

That's on the back of three goals and an assist from the winger who's taken his game up a level in recent weeks.

Leeds celebrated the nominations in a tweet on Thursday morning.

Good news, right?

Well you wouldn't have guessed it coming from the responses of some Leeds fans.

Plenty of them think that the awards are a curse and with Leeds flying high, they don't want anything to stop the run.

But are they right? We've done some digging, but first the responses...

But is it really a curse?

There's a fascinating article from the Racing Post that digs deep into the stats behind this.

They found that the winner of the manager award averaged 2.6 points per game over the month of the nomination. And then just 1.6 points afterwards.

However, the same teams then averaged 1.6 points per game for the rest of the season.

It basically means that the award is given for exceptional performances which will generally revert to the norm afterwards.

2.6 points per game is not sustainable all season – it's 120 points. Leeds will get promoted with far less.

Leeds averaged three points a game in November. With all the will in the world, that's unlikely to be maintained for the rest of the season, although Bielsa's men are holding it up in December so far.

Curse? Meh, we want our players and manager to be given these awards – it means we're doing the right thing.
