Victor Orta to leave Leeds United - Phil Hay

Leeds United are set to part company with director of football Victor Orta, according to The Athletic's Phil Hay.

The Whites are set to dispense of the 44-year-old after crisis talks on Monday (1 May) following the 4-1 defeat to Bournemouth at the weekend.

Spanish manager Javi Gracia's future also hangs in the balance after the defeat that left the club 17th in the Premier League with just four games of their season remaining.

Orta was appointed by chairman Andrea Radrizzani in the summer of 2017 and was responsible for the appointment of Marcelo Bielsa and Jesse Marsch, who was sacked in February of this year.

About time

Finally, it seems like Leeds United are coming to their senses and parting ways with Orta after months and months of dreadful strategic calls.

Firstly there was the poor summer recruitment, then the lack of planning for the departure of Jesse Marsch, and then the transfer activity from the January transfer window, which seems to be looking worse and worse with every passing week.

Orta has had his fair share of time to turn things around at Elland Road, but it seems his final life is now gone.

Where this leaves Leeds United for the immediate future is unknown.

With just four games of the season remaining, the club in dire threat of relegation to the Championship and Gracia on the brink of being sacked, it would be a minor miracle for the club to stay up this season.

However, action was needed, and the club have finally decided sweeping changes are the best course of action for the long run.
