'Very poor' - Mark Warburton comments on controversial decisions in QPR win v Leeds
It was another afternoon to forget for Leeds United on Saturday. The Whites lost 1-0 on the road against Queens Park Rangers.
A number of decisions went against Leeds, none more so than Nahki Wells' winning goal that clearly hit his hand - not once, but twice.
The bigger picture is the Championship promotion race, something which isn't looking too good at this stage. Leeds have a four-point gap to the play-offs, something Nottingham Forest could cut to two with their game in hand.
Mark Warburton has commented on two of the controversial decisions in the game and had a different view to many on the goal.
"I haven't seen it back yet, it looks like a good goal to me!" Warburton said, via Leeds Live.
The QPR boss went on to condemn Phillips for his tackle on Cameron in the second half, claiming there was no alternative to the red card he eventually picked up.
"It was a very, very poor challenge. You never want to see anyone red-carded, I mean that genuinely, you never want to see any player red-carded.
"But I have seen the stills [images] and it was a really poor challenge. It was a very dangerous tackle and Geoff [Cameron] is sore at the moment, but he got away with it."
Phillips will now miss the next three games in the Championship against Millwall, Wigan, and Nottingham Forest.
The 24-year-old was sent off at a similar time last season, and the Whites only managed to pick up three points from a possible nine after that.
Warburton was right though, it was a very poor challenge. He was certainly wrong to suggest that Wells' goal was perfectly fine though, everyone in the stadium (apart from the officials) could see that it was a handball - nothing we can do about it now though.
