Leeds United have reportedly not yet made formal contact to sign Liga Mx club Atlas striker Julian Quinones.

According to LUFC FANZONE, which is a Leeds Twitter account that constantly breaks exclusive stories from agents and the representatives of players, the club are yet to agree on a final deal to sign the 25-year-old.

The Whites have been linked with a move for the Colombian, but reports that a deal is close to competition are untrue.

Via Twitter, they wrote, "We’ve received slightly conflicting reports from a source close to Julián Quiñones regarding a move to Leeds:

'We have seen the rumours but at this moment Leeds have not contacted, and definitely haven’t agreed a transfer.'

"One to keep an eye on…"

Good enough?

We're not completely sold on this player and would rather that Leeds target better players before the new season begins.

They cannot go from Charles De Ketelaere and Arnaud Kalimuendo to a player who's not even made a single senior appearance for Colombia.

He may have a decent goal-scoring record for Atlas but the Premier League is a completely different ball game and we do not see him hitting the ground running here.

Ideally, Leeds must go for someone who's proven in one of Europe's top five leagues and perhaps even the Champions League if they are to finish in the top half again.

They do have the money to complete a club-record deal so they cannot really waste cash on unproven players who are not even in the early stage of their careers.

Time for Victor Orta to step in and suggest a target or two for Jesse Marsch to consider in the coming days.
