Sky Sports will broadcast Leeds United matches less frequently next season, according to The Athletic.

The news outlet reported online (25 June) that a £935million TV rights deal has been agreed between the EFL and Sky Sports.

As part of the deal, the EFL has promised more parity for teams shown on TV.

There is now a commitment for each of the 72 EFL teams to be broadcast a minimum of 20 times throughout the season.

The Whites were broadcast 33 times last season. However, this year, a Championship team will only be selected for broadcast a maximum of 24 times.

Leeds United supporters at Elland Road will be pleased with brand new Sky Sports update

On paper, some supporters might be frustrated that they won't be able to watch their team as frequently next season.

However, for those match-going supporters, they will be delighted with these changes.

Leeds United fans have made their frustration toward Sky Sports known in recent seasons, with the broadcaster's dominance over fixture rescheduling leading to difficulties.

This brand-new deal with the EFL will bring much more stability along with it, meaning that supporters won't be forced to make as many last-minute changes to their travel or accommodation plans.

In addition, the overall quality of the broadcasting will go up with more cameras in place at stadiums, while annual television income is also set to increase.

Leeds United manager Daniel Farke
Daniel Farke will be keen to guide Leeds United back to the Premier League

This is a new multi-year deal between the EFL and Sky Sports.

However, the Whites will hope to only reap the benefits of this agreement for one season, with Daniel Farke's side targeting a return to the Premier League next year.

To do that, the club will therefore need to keep hold of some of their best players.
