Leeds United ace Archie Gray could make the England Euro 2028 squad, according to Sky Sports News reporter Tim Thornton.

Thornton has mooted a midfield place for the 17-year-old, who has made 13 appearances in all competitions this season.

The midfielder has been named in the latest England Under-19 squad for the current international break for their three European qualifiers.

“One player certainly worth looking out for is Archie Gray,” Thornton said, as quoted by Sky Sports. “He’s already in the Leeds United first team and he’s still only 17.

“There has been a lot of hype around him at Elland Road for several years, and if he continues to progress, he could be in the mix for a place in England’s midfield for 2028.”

Future England star

England manager Gareth Southgate has the likes of Declan Rice and Kalvin Phillips to call upon in the defensive midfield role, with James Ward-Prowse perhaps next in line.

And while there will be plenty of other players throughout the younger England squads that will be eyeing a call-up to the senior team, Gray may not be too far away at all.

He has been a key player for Leeds manager Daniel Farke this season, forming a strong partnership alongside Wales ace Ethan Ampadu.

Gray’s stock will, of course, rise further if he can help guide the Whites back into the Premier League this season. But he will already be under the watchful eye of the England powers that be, with Gray now having another chance to impress for England Under-19s this month.

The Young Lions take on Montenegro, Wales and Austria in the coming weeks, and the Leeds youngster will undoubtedly be a crucial player for manager Simon Rusk.
