Leeds United central defender Robin Koch has decided against a summer transfer to Newcastle United, according to kicker.

The publication noted that the 26-year-old doesn’t want to switch to either the Magpies or Manchester United, despite the financial temptations.

Koch, who joined Leeds in 2020, will instead make a decision between Bundesliga duo Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayer Leverkusen, added kicker.

“Manchester United and Newcastle United, which are said to be also interested, are not an option for the 26-year-old despite the financial temptations,” according to kicker.

Return to Germany likely

Koch has a contract at Elland Road until next summer, but it seems that this summer is the one where he leaves the club, primarily due to their relegation from the Premier League.

The German is one of many Whites players that look very likely to leave West Yorkshire in the coming months after the club dropped down to the second division.

Koch will want to be playing regularly, which would be the case at Leeds, but he will want to be playing at a much higher level than the Championship.

A rapid return to the Premier League is seemingly an option for the sought-after 26-year-old, but it looks like his heart is set on a move to his homeland.

A transfer to the Bundesliga could also help his chances with the German national team, with Koch in and out of the international setup in recent times.

The central defender previously played in Germany for the likes of SC Freiburg and FC Kaiserslautern, moving to Elland Road from the former.
