Reliable journalist: Leeds ponder 'sensational' move for player Bielsa 'loves', he wants to move
Leeds United are pondering a 'sensational' move for Bayern Munich midfielder Michael Cuisance, according to FootMercato editor-in-chief Sebastien Denis.
The 21-year-old central midfielder arrived at the German giants last summer for a fee of around £11m but has struggled for regular game time, making nine appearances and just three starts in the Bundesliga last season.
In the accompanying report, Denis claims that Cuisance wants to play more and is open to a move this summer.
Marseille are interested but can't afford to sign him on a permanent deal. They are looking at the possibility of a loan with an obligation to buy, but Bayern Munich are reluctant to sanction a temporary exit.
That's opened the door to Leeds and Denis claims that Marcelo Bielsa 'loves' the player and has instructed his club to make a move for the player.
The report states that Leeds are 'strongly considering' tabling a bid for the player.
More business to come?
Despite the imminent capture of Diego Llorente taking Leeds's spending to around £80m this summer, players are still being linked thick and fast.
Cuisance is a new name and a very interesting one.
The 21-year-old can play in three different positions, as a central midfielder, a defensive midfielder or a more progressive attacking midfielder.
It means he could offer cover for Mateusz Klich and Kalvin Phillips, as well as bolstering the attacking options at the club.
There's one issue. If he wants to leave Bayern because he's not getting enough game time, we can't see him being attracted to Leeds, despite the obvious pulls of Bielsa and the Premier League.
For starters, he won't play immediately, with Bielsa generally bedding in new players before playing them.
After that, would he be guaranteed to start? He won't replace Klich and he certainly won't replace Phillips.
That means he's far more likely to be a squad player and that's not going to change his situation much.
If Bielsa 'loves' him then there's a chance that he could be charmed into a move but we don't think this one will come off. We'd like to be proven wrong.
