Leeds United are reportedly looking at at least one centre forward who is currently plying his trade in the Premier League.

According to Phil Hay, the Whites are very likely to sign a number nine this summer and without naming names, he claims that they are looking at somebody in the top flight.

Patrick Bamford has missed the majority of the season due to injury and the likes of Dan James and Rodrigo have failed to fill in the void.

Speaking on the Phil Hay Show (38:00), The Athletic journalist said, "From what I'm told, there is at least one centre forward in the Premier League they are looking at and I think they will do a centre forward. I think they have to do a centre forward."

Desperately needed

Bamford's absence was not something many could have accounted for.

Given how good he was last season and how impeccable his fitness record was, many expected him to pick up from where he left off.

However, that wasn't to be, and the Englishman struggled with his fitness and his form wasn't all that great either.

The fact that the club are looking for someone in the Premier League suggests that they want a striker with the experience of the English top flight.

They saw how the Rodrigo move panned out and recruiting attackers from foreign leagues could be hit and miss.

While Hay has not mentioned names, we can speculate as to who the players could be.

Liverpool's Divock Origi comes to mind as he has been linked with an exit while Watford's Emmanuel Dennis could also be an option post his side's relegation.
