'Phenomenal' – Sky Sports pundit makes Leeds claim ahead of clash v Newcastle

Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has said that Newcastle represents the "perfect game" for Leeds United to get their season back on track.

He said that taking points from teams like Newcastle is "absolutely imperative" for Leeds but also fired a warning about taking them lightly.

He said that a top-half finish would be "phenomenal" for Bielsa's first season in the English top-flight and said that he had no concerns about Leeds getting relegated.

Writing in his weekly column Prutton said, "It would be phenomenal if Leeds finish in the top half of the division but United have got to learn to walk at this level before they go off running again.

"To not get carried away and to be in the chat for next season in the Premier League is absolutely the first port of call and anything over and above that is a bonus.

"It’s the perfect game to get Leeds back on track but this is football and if they go into this thinking it's a straightforward way of getting three points it will bite them on the bum.

"Taking points against the teams that could possibly be down there come the end of the season and teams that are looking like they are going to be down there at the end of the season is absolutely imperative."

Watch out for the Saint

Newcastle have lost their last four games in the league and have only scored one goal in that time.

Since Leeds smashed them 5-2 back in December, Newcastle haven't won in nine games across all competitions, going out of the EFL Cup to Brentford and the FA Cup to Arsenal.

They're getting sucked into a relegation battle and Steve Bruce is under pressure over his job.

The one boost for Newcastle is that Allan Saint-Maximin is back after coming on for the final 15 minutes of the game against Aston Villa.

He's been out since November after suffering the effects of COVID and he's arguably their most dangerous, creative player.

He's in line for a start on Tuesday and Leeds must keep him quiet.

If we do and we can get our attack firing again – we've lost three in a row without scoring – we think that Leeds will have too much for Newcastle.
