Paul Merson shares why Michael Carrick could be sacked by Man United soon ahead of 'nightmare' Leeds
Leeds are preparing for one of their biggest games of the Premier League season on Sunday afternoon.
The Whites welcome Manchester United to Elland Road, although it won't be very friendly in LS11.
Daniel Farke will look to continue his brilliant streak against Michael Carrick, who is facing severe heat at Old Trafford.
Taking four points from them last season, Leeds will be extremely confident of another positive result.
Man United travel to Spain first to take on Atletico Madrid in the Champions League, as doubts rise.
And Paul Merson believes that Carrick is already in trouble ahead of his trip to Leeds on 18 October.
Could Michael Carrick be sacked?
It's a hilarious possibility that could certainly become true.
Speaking to Sky Sports Premier League, as shared on X, Merson admits that Carrick is in "trouble", which will only get worse if he doesn't get through this "nightmare" week.
He said: "You go to Leeds, who's one of Man United's champion enemies.
"This is a big, big, big football match. A big rivalry.
"And it's one of Leeds' biggest games."
De Ja Vu coming at Elland Road
Rewind to last season, and a feisty 1-1 draw in West Yorkshire.
Leeds were without the suspended Ethan Ampadu, with Brenden Aaronson opening the scoring.
Days later, Ruben Amorim was sacked at Old Trafford, a narrative that is starting to sound familiar with the worries coming from across the pennines.
Leeds are in great form, trust their system and Farke has a starting side that is consistent and familiar.
That is the complete opposite of what Carrick has, and it's hilarious to see how people are worried for them to come to Leeds, who are actually favourites for this one.
Given the Whites were in the Championship two years ago, that's a testament to everything they've done since.
Carrick won't get any favours in Madrid, and he certainly won't get any at Elland Road, so he might be forced to start packing his bags soon.
As Farke gets ready to sign a new contract, he's showing him exactly how it's done at the very top of English football.
