Nigel Reo-Coker delivers honest Leeds United verdict after loss v Leicester
Leeds United lost 1-0 against Leicester City in their previous game, and Nigel Reo-Coker has suggested that it's going to hurt them badly.
The Whites played a more balanced football under Jesse Marsch, but they still ended up losing at the King Power Stadium.
It was an emotionally charged week for the club after the exit of Marcelo Bielsa, and given the circumstances they're in, to lose a game like that adds to the frustration.
Reo-Coker said to BBC Football Daily podcast: "They did play well. They did play a lot more counter-attacking, a lot more organised.
"But still in the vital run, they are in right now, the chances they had against Leicester and to lose 1-0, that's gonna hurt. It's a very tough task he's got in his hands."
Transition
One of the reasons why Marsch was quickly appointed was that the club felt he is the right man to carry on the legacy left by Bielsa.
Obviously, there will some tweaks in the system (could be changes in philosophy as well), but Marsch has got many things in common with the Argentine.
Against the Foxes, Leeds pressed high and created loads of chances, but they were also quite solid at the back.
While there is a theory that Leeds could struggle to cope under the new system, considering how they were drilled into a unit by Bielsa, the problems won’t appear big if the Whites manage to pick up some wins.
The transition has to be smooth, and that’s the entire idea behind appointing Marsch.
Leeds are 16th in the league table but they can climb up the table if they can pick up maximum points from their next two games against Aston Villa and Norwich City.
