News on Leeds United flop Rasmus Kristensen causes astonishment - 'wow'

Leeds United fans do not have fond memories of Rasmus Kristensen playing at Elland Road.

The Denmark full-back was signed in the summer of 2022 in a transfer window that was an unmitigated failure from the Whites.

Leeds forked out big money on several players, who failed to improve the squad and were ultimately relegated.

Kristensen made 30 appearances in all competitions for Leeds that season, but failed to impress the Elland Road faithful.

He consequently spent time on loan at Roma and Eintracht Frankfurt, eventually joining the latter full time.

Now back in Denmark with Midtjylland, new news about the 29-year-old has caused real astonishment on the Square Ball Podcast.

What is ex-Leeds United man Rasmus Kristensen doing?

There are not many from that squad who are held in high regard by Leeds supports.

Indeed, Kristensen was one of several who exercised clauses in their contracts to escape on loan when Leeds were relegated from the Premier League - including current squad member Brenden Aaronson.

It has now been revealed Kristensen is to release a book, despite the fact he is still an active player.

News of Kristensen's new venture was a topic of discussions on the Square Ball Podcast, and caused astonishmenet for Michaem Normanton.

Co-host Dan Moylan said: "Rasmus Kristensen's autobiography, he's done a book," to which Normanton replied: "Wow."

"Talking about his struggles at Elland Road as part of it. Yeah, he's doing a book apparently," Moylan added.

Normanton replied: "It's a weird point in his career to do a book. You'd think for a career as unremarkable as that he'd at least wait until the end wouldn't you?

"Who's buying that? Maybe he's more famous than I'm giving him credit for but it feels like that's...it's not a mid-career book that."

Rasmus Kristensen has spoken on mental health problems

While it is a fact that Kristensen just did not perform well for Leeds, the 29-year-old has previousy spoken about mental health issues he suffered during his time in West Yorkshire.

Speaking to TVSport 2 back in 2025, he said: "I had lost the desire to play football and lost the desire to be part of that circus.

"Because I had lost the desire for that whole world – the whole mentality, the whole business. I had lost the joy of training and of playing.

"My year in the Premier League – with the relegation with Leeds and the enormous pressure that comes with it – I was not ready for. It's the biggest league in the world with the biggest media attention in the world, and I couldn't handle that."

"When the dream of having a professional football career came true, it was just not at all what I had imagined. All of that together wore off. And I also felt bad mentally during my last period at Leeds."

It seems now that Kristensen is doing much better, which is great to hear.

Because while he had his struggles in a Leeds shirt, no one wants to hear of players struggling off the pitch.
