New release clause emerges as Leeds United conduct first interview with former Spurs and Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo
Leeds United have reportedly conducted an interview to appoint former Tottenham Hotspur and Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo.
According to the Times on 14 February, the Portuguese who is currently the Al-Ittihad manager, will need Leeds to pay his compensation if he is to move to Elland Road.
It's understood that the Whites will have to shell out £5.3million if they decide to offer him the position.
Can do better
It's understood that Pedro Martins has also been spoken to and he will be a much better option than Nuno whose brand of football was one of the worst in the league.
Nuno was carried at Wolves by the Portuguese influence which helped them sign players in the Champions League even when they were in the Championship.
Eventually, he got found out in the Premier League and after he went to Spurs, he was sacked after 10 games which proved how he was out of his depth.
Leeds fans have been used to seeing their side play in a particular fashion and Nuno is the opposite of that and his pragmatism hasn't always gotten results.
Martins, on the other hand, has won three league titles in four seasons and would be a terrific fit at Elland Road.
He appears to be a manager on the cusp of great things and at 52, is at the ideal age to take the leap and manage in the Premier League.
