Leeds host Tottenham in the Premier League's early kick-off on Saturday, and there are plenty of reasons to expect an entertaining contest.

Tottenham are favourites to win after a bright start to the season, but Leeds are unbeaten at home in the last 12 months and have the players to hurt Spurs.

Troubling weather conditions are expected at Elland Road, which could add a wild card to the game, while Tottenham might be bothered by their poor record in matches ahead of international breaks.

All signs point to an even contest that either team could win if they play to their potential.

New data from Opta shows Leeds have been overpowering their Premier League opponents

Leeds secured a creditable draw against Bournemouth in their last game, with Cherries manager Andoni Iraola praising the physical aspects of the game.

Indeed, new data released by Opta suggests that Leeds have been overpowering their opponents throughout their return to their Premier League.

It was revealed earlier this week that no Premier League player has won more tackles than Sean Longstaff since his Leeds debut.

Now, new data shows that Jack Harrison has won 75 per cent of his duels this season, the second-highest tally of any Premier League winger. Meanwhile, Ethan Ampadu has won 66.7 per cent of his duels, putting him in the top 10 for centre-midfielders in the league.

This data suggests Tottenham could be in for a tough physical battle when the game kicks off at 12:30pm.

Leeds have the players to punish Tottenham

It has commonly been suggested that Elland Road will be a difficult place for any Premier League team to visit, and the physical dominance of Leeds' midfield is one key reason why.

However, Daniel Farke's team are far more than 'Dirty Leeds' this season.

  • Anton Stach has been one of the league's most productive playmakers this season
  • Dominic Calvert-Lewin looks ready to return to his peak form up front
  • The likes of Longstaff and Noah Okafor are emerging as dangerous attacking threats.

As the season goes on, it wouldn't be surprising to see Leeds grow in confidence and continue to outplay teams, as well as overpower them.

They'll have to earn the right to play, and that's where winning their individual duels comes in handy. But, from there, they absolutely have the talent to score goals from intelligent and deft play.
