Nate Silver has predicted that Leeds United and West Brom will finish as the Championship top-two after another favourable weekend.

Silver is one of the world’s most respected prediction experts after his work in US politics and has created his website FiveThirtyEight which delves in the second-tier of English football.

His statistical model has predicted that Leeds have an 85% chance of earning promotion to the Premier League after their 1-0 win over Reading on Saturday.

They have predicted that it will be tighter than the four-point gap between Leeds and West Brom at the end of the season, with the Baggies expected to be champions by two points.

It has got to the point where the majority of Leeds fans don't care where they finish, just as long as they secure automatic promotion - something this weekend certainly helped.

Fulham, Brentford, and Nottingham Forest all dropped points against lower opposition, leaving the Whites with a five-point gap to the play-offs once again.

Silver has predicted that Marcelo Bielsa's men still have a 37% chance of lifting silverware at the end of this season.

Leeds weren't at their fluent best against Reading, but as other results highlighted, three points are all that matters. The teams that can pick up points whilst not at their best are usually the teams that get promoted, and only West Brom and Leeds are showing that quality right now.

The game against Reading had a number of nail-biting incidents, with Kalvin Phillips leaving the field injured. The away side also had a period in the first-half where they could have punished the Whites getting in behind the midfield - as you can see on Sofa Score's attacking momentum graph.

At this point of the season, we all want free-flowing football but we would happily sacrifice that each week for three points so let's just keep on winning.
