Last season there were many players that improved dramatically under the guidance of Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds United.

Players like Liam Cooper and Kalvin Phillips spring to mind, but it hard to look past how much the South American changed Kemar Roofe.

The former Oxford man was struggling to nail down a single position and often had to settle for a place out wide.

Bielsa came in and gave him the chance to play central, something that benefitted him massively - ultimately leading to his move to Anderlecht in the summer.

Roofe started that move with an injury and struggled for game time, but has since returned to great effect for the Belgian giants.

In an update on Leeds Live, they shared just how the 26-year-old was doing under Vincent Kompany in his return to fitness.

"Though he missed the first half-dozen potential games for his new club due to an ankle injury, the striker has since excelled in Belgium," they wrote.

"He has netted seven goals across 16 appearances in all competitions, with his last effort helping them to a draw against Standard Liege before Christmas.

"His fine form has helped the club recover from a rough start to the season, though they remain stranded in mid-table for the moment."

There have been question marks hanging over the entire Championship surrounding the financial fair play rules, and it came as no surprise to see Leeds sell Roofe, but if there was a different way around it, surely Andrea Radrizzani would have taken it.

With question marks surrounding Eddie Nketiah, Patrick Bamford could soon be alone at Leeds, who could have done with someone like Roofe in West Yorkshire once again this season.
