MOT View: Time for veteran Leeds star to be shown the door at Elland Road

Dave is a huge Leeds fan and ardent disciple of Bielsa ball. A career in print magazines that included editing PC Zone, launching PokerPlayer and redesigning The Big Issue has finally led Dave to writing about the love of his life, Leeds United. It’s been a tough 2020 but the single scariest moment was the first quarter of the game against Man City. Rodrigo will be the saviour this season.

Leeds United has been run almost immaculately since Andrea Radrizzani has taken over.

It started when he bought Elland Road back, hit new heights when Marcelo Bielsa arrived and culmintaed in promotion back to the Premier League.

That's why we've been so disappointed with how the club's handled the Kiko Casilla saga.

The 33-year-old veteran goalkeeper was found guilty of racist abuse and banned for eight games. The FA hearing didn't reflect well on Leeds with several players described as unreliable witnesses.

Since then, Leeds haven't made a statement and Casilla himself hasn't apologised.

We're not going to talk around the guilty verdict. That is what it is and given players taking a knee ahead of every game, it seems wrong to us that Casilla started in the game against Derby.

We believe that Casilla should have played his last game for the club.

In Illan Meslier, Leeds have a goalkeeper for the future. We believe that Man United's Sergio Romero is the man Leeds should pursue as the club's new number one.

The 33-year-old former Argentina international has been linked with Leeds and comes with the pedigree and experience to slot straight in at Elland Road.

We can't think of anyone better for Meslier to learn from and we strongly believe that Casilla would be more of a distraction than a help next season.

That's not what Leeds need as journalists such as Jeremy Cross in the Star look for any excuse to dig the club out.

Radrizzani needs to show the way and continue to run Leeds as a club for the future.
