There's one player who's been making Leeds United fans angry for a long time now.

Ouasim Bouy is the player that Leeds just can't get rid of, despite the fact that he hasn't stepped foot in Thorp Arch for a long time.

The 27-year-old signed a four-year deal back in 2017 when he arrived on a free transfer from Juventus with a lot of fanfare.

He's a Mino Raiola player and the agent said that he was "the biggest European talent born in 1993".

He never played a single match for Leeds and it's now well over two years since he turned out for the Under-23s.

When Marcelo Bielsa arrived he wasn't impressed and left Bouy without a squad number.

He was left out of Leeds' official Premier League squad on Tuesday with Phil Hay saying he is "at Leeds in neither body nor spirit."

However, he's still taking his money each week and it's not a small sum.

According to Hay, "Bouy is nowhere near the highest wage bracket at Elland Road but he earns a respectable first-team salary."

So why haven't Leeds got rid?

Profit and sustainability levels provide one reason. Paying off his contract in one sum could have been problematic for Leeds.

However, that could change in January, as he can talk to other clubs about a free transfer.

Leeds would only have six months left of his contract to pay off.

The big question is whether Bouy has any interest in playing football again. Although maybe that should be reframed to whether any football clubs would have interest in signing him.

That's of no interest to Leeds fans, though, who just want him out of the club at the earliest opportunity.

January is the perfect opportunity to cut all ties with him.
