Liam Cooper and Jack Harrison react as ex-Leeds United star Mateusz Klich scores first MLS goal
Leeds United duo Liam Cooper and Jack Harrison sent brilliant four-word messages to Mateusz Klich who scored his first goal in the MLS for DC United.
The 32-year-old midfielder, who left the Whites in the January transfer window, scored a cracking goal with a long-range effort in the 13th minute of the game.
Klich was a hero at Elland Road who spent five and a half seasons with Leeds. He is one of the multiple new faces brought by Wayne Rooney, as DC United look for major improvement after finishing last in MLS in 2022.
DC United shared a post on Instagram of the goal scored by Klich, with the caption "Quite an introduction to Audi Field".
"Looking after him I see," wrote Cooper on Instagram to the post shared by DC United.
"Klich is scoring goals," wrote Harrison.
Typical
Over the years, Leeds fans have seen loads of goals from Klich like this. This is a trademark goal for the Polish midfielder, and let’s hope he will score more goals going forward.
Klich was a key player at the club under Marcelo Bielsa. He was one of the first names of the teamsheet alongside Kalvin Phillips in the middle of the park.
However, towards the end of last season, Klich’s influence in the side waned following the arrival of Jesse Marsch. There were suggestions that he could leave the club in the summer window but Marsch promised him that he would get regular games.
However, Klich really struggled for games and he was way down the pecking order at the club. He took the decision to move to the MLS where he can not only expect to play regularly but make a big contribution as well.
Meanwhile, Leeds returned to winning ways under their new manager Javi Gracia, after they earned a 1-0 win against Southampton on 25 February at Elland Road.
