Leeds United midfielder Cian Coleman has been included as one of the best young talents in The Guardian's Next Generation list.

Guardian journalist Louise Taylor has included the Leeds youngster as the best up-and-coming player at Thorp Arch to be born between 1 September 2004 and 31 August 2005.

She has labelled the 17-year-old as "immensely versatile" and has also likened him to first-team ace Kalvin Phillips.

Elite comparison

Every midfielder at Thorp Arch would want to one day be as good as Phillips and the first step to reaching there is to be compared to the England international.

At 16, Coleman's already showcasing why he's similar to Phillips and hopefully, he continues to develop into a first-team player for the senior side.

He trained with Marcelo Bielsa's first team over the course of the summer so the Argentine certainly has his eyes on him.

We know that age doesn't matter much to Bielsa and if he feels that the midfielder is ready for the first team, he will not hesitate to draft him into his side.

One thing that will instantly make the Leeds fans wall in love with him is that he's also born in West Yorkshire.

Over the last few years, he's been playing above his age group consistently and is currently a part of the Under-19 Ireland squad as well.

We will be keeping a keen eye on him and hopefully, he becomes a first-team player in a few years.
