Max Wober has given the management team of Borussia Monchengladbach a "nice-to-do" to turn his loan spell into a permanent move from Leeds United, according to the Rheinische Post.

The German newspaper shared in their print edition [18 October, pg D3] that the deal will depend on whether Leeds earns promotion to the Premier League, with the timing and price still topics of discussion.

Reheiniche Post claims Wober has impressed in his short spell in Germany, as he tops the Bundesliga charts for tackles, clearances and interceptions while displaying a confident passing game when in possession.

The move makes sense for all parties

The footballing director of Monchengladbach, Nils Schmadetke, hinted to Bild last week [9 October] that the deal would be on the cards "in its own time" when asked if he would like to make Wober's move permanent.

With Wober succeeding in Germany, and Leeds beginning their campaign with an aim for promotion from the Championship, it doesn’t seem like there would be a place for Wober to return to Elland Road, even if his ability is of a higher level than other members of Daniel Farke’s squad.

While he would undoubtedly improve the side, able to play as a left-back or left-sided centre-back, the transition the club is continuing to go through in terms of the playing squad means very few of their loanees would be welcome back.

From a Leeds point of view, the money will need to be enough to prise him away from Elland Road, but there should also be an acceptance that if Wober wants to leave, they have no need to stand in his way.
