Graeme Bailey has shared that Burnley defender Charlie Taylor is the left-back he keeps hearing Leeds United could sign during the January transfer window.

The full-back began his senior career at Elland Road, making three appearances for the Whites in 2011. He would go on to play another 100 games for Leeds before leaving for Burnley in 2017 on a free transfer.

The HITC journalist is aware of the mixed feelings that Leeds fans share about one of Vincent Kompany's key men but after ending Djed Spence's loan deal six months short, there is an opening at full-back.

"A left back is someone they want," he said to the One Leeds Fan channel on Thursday (4 January).

"I keep hearing Charlie Taylor's name in terms of people coming back. I know he's a player Leeds fans are quite indifferent about, he left quite early didn't he? I think we will see a left-back in."

An uninspiring link

Taylor is an extremely experienced defender in the Premier League and Championship, registering over 300 combined appearances for Burnley and Leeds.

With promotion on the cards for the latter, Daniel Farke is unlikely to turn down a wise mind, especially in such a young dressing room. Especially with the links of Luke Ayling leaving Elland Road, an older player could be vital if Leeds are to be successful this season.

However, having just allowed a talented prospect in Spence to return to his parent club after just six months of a season-long loan, it is understandable if some fans were unsure about the signing.

The Whites are capable of attracting much bigger names, evidenced by the loan of Joe Rodon from Tottenham Hotspur and permanent transfers of Joel Piroe, Glen Kamara and Georginio Rutter.
