Leeds United have been following Serbian striker Djorja Jovanovic for a long time, with a "huge" transition on the cards, according to Israeli news source Walla Sports.

According to the report, Maccabi Tel Aviv are looking to sell Jovanovic this summer despite Robbie Keane only just being confirmed as their new head coach.

Leeds are said to have a "very high" budget even with their relegation to the Championship with more information dropping in the last 24 hours after the interest was shared.

This could be an interesting option on the cheap

Jovanovic is an international striker who has three caps to his name, after making his debut in 2022. He scored 15 goals and earned four assists across 33 games in Isreal last season, contributing to a goal every 1.73 games. He could be an interesting option for Leeds' striker role as the club look to add depth to their squad.

At 6ft 2, Jovanovic could provide a bit of physicality to a front line that lacks a bully-type striker, with Patrick Bamford a more technical player.

There are probably better options for Leeds if they are looking to bring in a new striker this summer, with Nottingham Forest and Nigeria forward Emmanuel Dennis being linked to a move in this transfer window [Punch, 28 June].

At a low fee of just £3million, Leeds could be tempted to spend low on this transfer as they focus their budget elsewhere, looking to fill the gaps that may be left by departing players as a host of Leeds United stars are linked to moves away following their relegation from the Premier League.
