Leeds United need to be ready for a stern test when they face Millwall at the Den on Wednesday, Dean Saunders has said.

Speaking with Alan Brazil on talkSPORT (6 November, 8:29am), Saunders said that regardless of the opponent, beating Millwall away from home at this time of year is always a difficult ask.

Daniel Farke's side eased to a 3-0 win at The Den early last season and are unbeaten away from home so far this term, but Saunders emphasised that another Whites victory will not come easily in Bermondsey.

He said: "After managing in the Championship, I've always seen Millwall away on a Wednesday night as a test for a Championship player – can you get yourself up for this game against Millwall?

"It's going to be a battle, it's going to be cold – roll your sleeves up."

Leeds United can't risk being drawn into Millwall 'battle'

While Farke has a 100 per cent record against Millwall in his career so far as Leeds manager, the German and his side will still have to weather a storm at The Den.

Many a Whites team has come unstuck on the banks of the Thames in recent years, with the two clubs developing a fierce rivalry fuelled by their two passionate fanbases.

Although being held as part of a full Championship card in midweek risks the match being overlooked as opposed to a headline weekend game, it's hard to miss Millwall against Leeds in any list of fixtures.

Last season's away victory and 2-0 win at Elland Road – which took United top of the Championship table – suggested a rebalancing of this rivalry's axis, but that counts for nothing this time around.

Farke's side have been presented with another opportunity to climb to the summit if all results go their way, but the Peacocks' sole focus must be on the task at hand against the Lions.
