Leeds United have been at the centre of plenty of speculation this summer as they prepare to return to the Premier League.

Daniel Farke's side raced to the Championship title last season, but the German's future has seemingly come under threat, even though he achieved his remit of leading the Whites to promotion.

Paraag Marathe has since backed Farke, but that may have changed following Ange Postecoglou's sacking at Tottenham.

The Australian's dismissal in North London has caused plenty of controversy, and it looks as though the 59-year-old could be in contention for an immediate return to management.

Leeds should 'go all out' to hijack Saudi Arabian talks

Daniel Levy's decision to sack the former Celtic boss has ruffled feathers throughout the Premier League, but it has had a profound impact at Elland Road in particular.

The Whites' hierarchy had seemingly settled on their decision to continue to support Farke, however, now Marathe and Co. have been urged to bring in Postecoglou to lead their survival push instead.

Postecoglou has been heavily linked with an instant Premier League return, but he is now nearing an agreement to move to Saudi Arabia.

Al Ahli have made contact with Postecoglou and are considering making him their next boss, according to The Athletic (14 June).

That development now means that if Leeds have genuine designs on replacing Farke, then they need to act fast, or they will lose out on a man who would be an extremely desirable candidate.

The club's hierarchy should go all out to attempt to convince Postecoglou to join, to complete what would be a major coup and a huge statement of intent to their likely relegation rivals.

Postecoglou would be excellent in a relegation battle

For all the criticism that Postecoglou received for his stint at Spurs, he jumps out as the kind of manager who would come into his own when faced with the adversity of a relegation battle.

The 59-year-old prompted raised eyebrows across the footballing world on several occasions this season for his spiky responses to the media, and while that can bring unwanted attention, he proved time and again that he was able to keep the pressure off his players.

Postecoglou created something of a siege mentality at Tottenham, and managed to instil the mentality in his squad that it was him and them against the world. That would have been invaluable to their eventual Europa League triumph, and would also be of huge importance in a fight at the foot of the table.

Togetherness and a willingness for players to work tirelessly for each other can sometimes make all the difference in the lower reaches of the Premier League.

Leeds would undoubtedly be able to instil that within their ranks if they could get Postecoglou, which surely makes it a no-brainer for them to do everything in their power to convince him to join.
