Leeds United teenager Leo Hjelde may be forced to look elsewhere if Philipp Max is signed
Leeds United have reportedly bid for PSV Eindhoven left-back Philipp Max, which could see teenager Leo Fuhr Hjelde leave Elland Road if he arrives this summer.
Tutto Mercato Web revealed on 27 July that Leeds have reportedly bid £6.7million for the German full-back.
Jesse Marsch has made no secret of his desire to land a new left-back before the Premier League season kicks off in a matter of weeks.
At present Junior Firpo and Hjelde represent his options to choose from, with the former out injured.
Firpo has proven to be a figure who divides opinion at Elland Road and will need some adequate competition for the upcoming campaign.
If Marsch does land another left-back then a loan move for the 18-year-old Fuhr Hjedlde does look like the most sensible option for the club.
He has featured for the Whites under-23 side and also made three Premier League appearances in the 2021/22 season, but ultimately he is at an age where regular first-team football could be a real boost for his long-term development.
Under-23 football can be good to improve the technical side of a young player's game, but it is extremely hard to replicate the physicality and competitive edge of first-team football.
The Norway under-21 international should certainly consider a move away instead of being third choice for Marsch.
It wouldn't be a shock for the Elland Road faithful to potentially see a number of their younger players leave the club on loan in the coming weeks.
Lewis Bate is another name that could leave the club after Marsch's midfield additions.
