Derby County midfielder Jason Knight is not keen on leaving in January amid links to Leeds United, according to Eurosport journalist Dean Jones.

The Whites have been in the hunt for a central midfielder since the summer of 2020 when they first got promoted to the league.

This month, they have been linked with a move for the 20-year-old who's believed to be worth £8million. [The Times]

Speaking to Give Me Sport, Jones said, “Knight doesn't actually want to leave Derby right now. So, even though it’s a good move for him, while Rooney's there, I think he's quite enjoying it.”

Move on

Knight is a player who's on the cusp of making the next big break in his career.

At 20, he's already exceeding expectations in the Championship and it's no surprise that clubs in the top flight are vying for his services.

According to Football League World in December, Everton, Wolves, Crystal Palace, Leicester, Burnley and Newcastle United were the other clubs linked with the youngster.

It's clear that he's set to make the step up within the next 12-18 months as he cannot realise his ambitions at Derby County.

The Rams are in financial peril and face the real risk of getting relegated after a massive points deduction.

If they do end up in League One, Leeds could look to sign him for a cheaper fee in the summer which means that his intentions of not leaving could actually benefit them for a future move.
