Leeds United to be taken advantage of over Crysencio Summerville amid Newcastle United news

MOT Leeds News Speaking to Don Goodman

MOT Leeds News is delighted to have noted Sky Sports pundit Don Goodman joining its team of Leeds experts at the start of 2024. Goodman played for the likes of Bradford, West Brom, Sunderland, Wolves, Motherwell and Walsall in his career and since hanging up his boots, he's been working in the media with Sky Sports, where he has become a bonafide EFL expert. Don will bring you expert insight on all the goings on at Leeds.

Don Goodman expects Premier League clubs to take advantage of the financial situation at Leeds United with regards to Crysencio Summerville.

The 2023-24 Championship Player of the Season has been linked with an array of top-flight clubs after Leeds missed out on promotion.

Chelsea, Liverpool and Brighton and Hove Albion have each been touted with an interest, as have Newcastle United [The Athletic, 4 June].

Asked about the interest in Summerville from elsewhere, Goodman told MOT Leeds News: "Well Newcastle already have Harvey Barnes, Anthony Gordon and others, so I don't know about that.

"As for Liverpool and Chelsea, will he get regular football with them? Probably not. Brighton have a track record of taking young players and improving them.

"But from his perspective [Brighton] would be the least attractive of the four of those clubs in terms of the size and ambition compared to the others - they are all Champions League clubs, or aspiring to be.

"Leeds have to wait for a suitable offer, absolutely, but clubs will know there's a need for Leeds to bring big money in and will play into that - that's the nature of the beast, the way football is."

How much can Leeds United get for Crysencio Summerville?

The seemingly growing interest in Summerville can only help Leeds, with a transfer battle hopefully ensuing.

United fans would much rather the Dutchman stayed at Elland Road for another year, of course, but it has long been accepted that there is no realistic chance of that happening.

Given Leeds are in the Championship for at least another year and need to bring in funds, Premier League clubs will no doubt try to undercut the Whites' valuation.

Leeds United manager Daniel Farke
Daniel Farke is no doubt expecting plenty of disruption at Leeds United this summer

Ultimately, it will likely be a case of Summerville being sold to the highest bidder, regardless of what that final bid proves to be.

The club will just hope they can bring in somewhere close to the £30million mark, which would help to alleviate the financial issues and ensure the core of the 2023-24 squad still remains intact.
