Leeds United bringing Gaetano Berardi back to Elland Road as a coach may not be the worst idea in the world for all parties involved.

The Swiss defender was one of the promotion heroes for the Whites and spent the better part of a decade at the club before leaving for Sion.

While he's still playing football professionally, recently he has admitted to want to get into coaching and has played up the possibility of him doing that in England.

In an interview with Area Coach, the former Leeds defender said, "I would very much like to start in England, where the tasks are more 360 ° in the managerial aspects than in other countries.

"In the English minor leagues, there are many young former footballers who have had the chance to emerge despite the lack of experience, elsewhere it is more difficult."

Having Berardi back at the club as a coach could be like a breath of fresh air as he'll certainly have some friends in the dressing room.

Many youngsters that have come up the ranks would have seen him turn up for the senior side week in and week out in the Championship.

He also holds a special place in the hearts of Leeds fans as he was part of the side that got them back to the Premier League under Marcelo Bielsa.

A number of clubs have brought on their former players to their backroom team and that's something Leeds may also consider doing.
