Illan Meslier's time as a Leeds United player could come to an end this summer.

Most of the focus this summer will be on incomings at Elland Road, though plenty of attention will be needed on the departure front as well.

Several stars could exit Elland Road this summer, with Mateo Joseph one of those who has asked to leave, though he's unlikely to be the only one.

As the Whites gear up for a season back in the Premier League, decisions will need to be made on those who may be deemed surplus to requirements, and Meslier may be one of them.

Daniel Farke will want a new goalkeeper this summer

Leeds have a lot of work to do this summer, though replacing Meslier will likely be high up on their list of priorities.

Yahia Fofana has been the latest to be linked with a move, and Paul Robinson can't see Meslier staying at Leeds if a new number one comes in.

Speaking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, he said: "I think he'll go. If Leeds sign a number one goalkeeper, I think he'll go.

"I think he's of an age now, we forget how young he still is. He's experienced at the top level, and he may need a fresh start. At times, you can spend too long at a club.

Meslier's stats are made to look far better by the defensive foundation he had in front of him.

"I've always said he's a goalkeeper that I like. And Daniel Farke stuck with him for a long time last year, but he got to a point where his confidence was shot, and you could see that.

"I think for him and his own personal development, his own career, a move elsewhere to continue playing regularly as a number one in a different environment with different people around him. I think, genuinely, I know it's a phrase I use a lot, but I think it's a move that suits both parties.

"Leeds will get a decent fee for him, and I think he can develop his career elsewhere."

Leeds need Premier League proven players

Leeds have an excellent squad, though the majority of them haven't proven their quality in the Premier League.

That level of experience will be crucial if the Whites are to avoid relegation, showcasing just how big a task awaits them in the transfer window.
