Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich made his 82nd consecutive start for the Whites against Reading on Saturday, breaking Gordon Strachan's previous record.

The Polish international was influential in the 1-0 victory at Elland Road, keeping the impressive John Swift quiet for the away side.

Klich had an added responsibility in midfield once Kalvin Phillips was forced off with a knock in the first half, being forced to drop slightly deeper in the heart of the side.

The 29-year-old nearly broke his 15-game record without a goal at the start of the second half, curling an effort agonisingly wide from the edge of the box.

Klich had three shots on goal as well as completing three key passes according to WhoScored, as he and Pablo Hernandez influenced the final result.

Yes, we all want Klich to be involved in as many goals as last season, but it is his physicality that is catching the eye this season.

Many Leeds fans were blown away by Klich on Saturday, and the majority pointed out his work off the ball that will make him a nightmare to play against.

Klich has been integral to the recent upturn in form alongside Phillips, with some of his defensive work, in particular, going under the radar since his midfield partner returned from suspension.

With games against Middlesbrough and Hull City coming up in the next week, the Pole will certainly get chances to find the back of the net again this season.

Thought Ben White took over from Phillips with aplomb. Harrison and Klich immense. Pablo the difference.
