Chris Sutton has questioned what is happening at Leeds United after Daniel Farke's side fell to a 4-0 loss against Queens Park Rangers, opening the door for Ipswich in the promotion race.

The Norwich City supporter commented about the opportunity that has been handed to Ipswich, although they went on to draw their first of two games in hand 3-3 against Hull.

Leeds' recent form has not been good enough, though, and if Ipswich win their remaining game in hand, they will only have to match Leeds' result on the final day to secure automatic promotion.

Speaking live on the BBC 606 Football Phone In [27 April], Sutton questioned: "Leeds United, what is going on there? They've lost three out of their last five and what an opportunity it is for Ipswich Town."

Given the advantage their rivals have with the game in hand, Leeds could not afford to throw away any more points this season ahead of the clash at Loftus Road, so a 4-0 defeat is nothing short of a disaster for Farke's side.

Such was the disappointment of the result that the players were kept at Thorp Arch for a long day on 27 April for an inquest as they picked through each of their performances which led to the loss.

With four points separating Leeds from Leicester in top spot, the latter celebrated long into the night at Leeds’ expense as their promotion was confirmed, while Ipswich would also have been excited by the opportunity handed to them.

Daniel Farke has set Leeds United on course to win promotion back to the Premier League this season.

While promotion remains a possibility if Ipswich drop points, it has been taken out of Leeds’ hand, throwing a spanner in the works of the club’s transfer plans for the summer as they may now need to reevaluate their options.
