Shane Duffy makes 'can't do that' admission after Norwich City defeat to Leeds United

Norwich City defender Shane Duffy admits his side only have themselves to blame for their 3-2 loss against Leeds United after making "silly" errors.

The Canaries let slip a two-goal half-time lead at Carrow Road on Saturday (21 October) as Leeds registered a superb comeback victory.

Duffy put the ball into his own net and Crysencio Summerville then scored twice to lift United up to third in the Championship.

Reflecting on a disappointing afternoon for Norwich, Duffy is quoted by the club's official website (21 October) as saying: "It's disappointing.

"We built up a two-goal lead against a good team and have thrown it away really. We just stopped doing what we were doing in the first half.

"We were getting the press right, getting after them and making them make mistakes.

"Then we came out and sat off, and they made a few changes to cause us problems, [they] put four up top.

"Silly individual errors and decision-making is what's disappointing; we can't do that at this level against good teams. You'll get punished."

Leeds looked dead and buried at half-time of the contest in Norfolk after Duffy and Gabriel Sara put Norwich in command.

But Duffy's unfortunate own goal shortly after the hour mark gave the visitors a glimmer of hope that they took full advantage of.

A point would have been a good result from this fixture before a ball was kicked, and even more so when two down with 62 minutes played.

So to return to West Yorkshire with all three points shows just how gutsy this current crop of Leeds players are.

While Duffy is right in saying Norwich became far too sloppy in the second half, Leeds deserve praise for forcing those errors.

Whatever Daniel Farke said at half-time certainly paid off as the second-half display was a huge improvement on the first 45 minutes.

If it was not already clear beforehand, automatic promotion is very much the target for Leeds this season.
