Leeds United: National media praise Dan James in Wales 4-2 loss v Armenia
The Welsh media have praised Dan James after the Leeds United man scored during the Cymru's 4-2 Euro 2024 qualification loss to Armenia.
The defeat leaves Wales third in Group B and facing a struggle to qualify for the tournament in Germany next summer.
However, Wales Online gave the 25-year-old a glowing report in their playing ratings.
"Started brightly and took his goal well. Ran tirelessly and was a constant threat on the left-hand side. Final ball has improved, but Wales couldn't capitalise on his centres. Subbed," they wrote (16 June).
Part to play
Let's hope James' performance is the beginning of his rebirth in a Leeds United shirt. The 25-year-old has been rather unlucky in recent years. He showed some glimpses of form in a successful Fulham side and it remains to be seen where he will be playing his football next season.
In the Championship, he would be an extremely handy asset to call upon. Previously - whilst at Swansea City - the winger was explosive in the second tier. His pace and direct running were far too much for the average Championship defender to deal with.
With Willy Gnonto and Crysencio Summerville also at the club, it's fair to say Leed have electric pace within their ranks.
In the modern game, express speed can sometimes be a rare commodity. Defenders never like having to deal with the threat behind them and James, Gnonto and Summerville all provide a serious threat to most backlines.
