Leeds United may have found their long-term Crysencio Summerville successor in "fantastic" academy gem Connor Douglas after what he's done recently.

The Whites had a major overhaul of their team in the summer and perhaps the biggest name of those that exited Elland Road was Summerville.

Douglas has only recently returned from an injury which kept him out for around a year but since his reintegration into Leeds' Under-21 squad, he's been hailed as "fantastic" by his manager Scott Gardener (LUTV, 6 November) thanks to his performance in the West Yorkshire outfit's 2-1 win over National League side Gateshead on 6 November.

Douglas may still only be 18-yeas-old but if his progression continues as it's started, it's hard to see how Daniel Farke won't at least consider putting the winger on his bench at some point in the near future.

Why Connor Douglas could be the Crysencio Summerville successor Leeds United need

The Whites' attack was arguably the area of their team that changed the most thanks to the departures of the Dutchman and Georginio Rutter.

Both Manor Solomon and Largie Ramazani were brought to Elland Road to help fill the voids left by the aforementioned pair and until recently, they've put in a good shift.

Of course, Ramazani is injured so he hasn't been able to have much of a say on the results but Solomon, on the other hand, has been well below par.

Douglas may still be young but age didn't stop Farke from giving Archie Gray an extended run in the team last season.

In Douglas' last two games for the Under-21s, he's managed to bag a goal in each clash and has shown no signs of slowing down.

The fact that Leeds offered him a contract extension in the summer also shows how much faith the club have in him going forward.

Granted, it's still early days in his footballing career and things can change but on current form, he could well be the answer Leeds have been looking for to replace Summerville in the future.
