LeedsLive journalist Beren Cross has responded to a question about Hibernian manager Lee Johnson potentially taking over at Leeds United.

In his Q&A on June 30, the Yorkshire-based reporter claims that the 42-year-old was never in the running to join the club.

The Whites conducted interviews for their next manager last week and due to the EFL not greenlighting the takeover, an announcement could not be made.

Cross wrote, "No, Lee Johnson was not in the frame."

Good thing

Leeds should not be going for managers not on the rise or have done something noteworthy in the past few seasons that makes them viable candidates for the job.

The Whites look to be closing in on Daniel Farke and it's understandable why they're going down that route this summer.

Their priority will be to get out of the Championship the first time of asking and they've soon Norwich thrive under the German.

He's got them two promotions to the Premier League and may have even kept them up had the board backed him in the transfer window.

He will play an attractive brand of football that will be an instant hit with the fans as well and that's extremely important.

Johnson might have won Manager of the Month awards during his stints at Bristol City and Sunderland, but that's not what the Whites must be aspiring towards.
